After EQS, Mercedes-Benz Plans To Stop Production Of GLC Coupe And GLE Coupe
JAKARTA - Mercedes-Benz is one of the manufacturers that is rumored to be discontinuing several models in the future. Once confirmed to end the EQS era, now the German brand will soon stop two ICE-engined couple-SUV models, GLC Coupe and GLE Coupe.
Citing Motor1, Friday, September 27, this well-known brand has several options, such as stopping the GLC Coupe and GLE Coupe completely from cutting the number of productions or the two of them will be combined into one model.
The move taken by the company is quite reasonable considering Mercedes-Benz wants to simplify its lineup of models in the future. Previously, they stopped the C-Class Coupe, E-Class Coupe, and CLS models in 2023 by introducing CLE Coupe as a replacement.
In addition, this premium automotive brand also stopped the A-Class model in 2022 in order to pave way for the latest model, CLA Coupe.
Amid the rumors, Mercedes-Benz will reportedly launch its newest GLC in 2026. However, it remains unclear whether this model will retain a sloping cooperative style or like an SUV in general.
It is likely that the latest GLC will use an updated powertrain with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) drive by providing a cruising range of up to 81 miles or 130 km with pure electric power.
