Daniel Dubois' Sad Salary Before Winning KO Over Anthony Joshua

JAKARTA - Daniel Dubois had a sad salary before earning millions of pounds from beating Anthony Joshua last weekend.

The 27-year-old boxer even earned under the driver's salary in England for a year.

Last year, Dubois only paid himself 55,582 pounds in dividend form.

This means that the British boxer only receives 1,069 pounds per week according to TKO's financial report, Daniel Dubois Limited, the company he uses to handle the proceeds from his fight.

This amount is much lower than the average salary of trained divers in the UK of 64,000 pounds.

Dubois' income is approximately comparable to the salaries of eye doctors and school principals of 55,000 and 56,000 pounds.

Compare it to Anthony Joshua's earnings last year from boxing and sponsorships worth 180 million.

From boxing alone, Joshua bagged 41.3 million pounds last year, or about 113,000 pounds per day.

The income has not been added to cooperation with brands, such as fashion giant Hugo Boss, Jaguar Land Rover, and sports company Under Armor.

However, now Daniel Dubois has experienced a long increase in revenue after winning KO over Anthony Joshua.

The sensational boxer pocketed a guarantee of 3.5 million pounds for defeating Anthony Joshua. Not to mention there is revenue based on the PPV (pay-per-view) rating from television.

Dubois is expected to make more money next year with the possibility of a rematch against Joshua. The problem is, the request for cooperation from sponsors in the future is certain to be flooded.

Daniel Dubois surprised Wembley Stadium on Saturday, September 21, 2024, when he beat Joshua who became a crowd favorite in the fifth round to defend the IBF heavyweight title.

Since then, he refused to guarantee AJ's rematch. Instead, he will try to get the biggest pay.

One of the rivals that Dubois wants to face is Oleksandr Usyk, a boxer who hit KO himself in the nine-year-old round.

"I wanted a rematch (with Usyk), but whoever paid me more money."

"Also, if (the replay with Joshua) happens next, yes. I want to do it. I want to do better next time."

"I know where I need to develop. So, as a champion and fighter, I want to prove that other people are wrong all the time. That's what we've been doing."

"I think I will. I can do better than that. It was a great performance, but next time I'm sure I'll be more clinical. Sharper, everyone," Dubois told talkSPORT.
