Free Nutrition Eating Program Can Dongkrak PDB Up To 1.94 Percent

JAKARTA - The Free Nutrition Food Program (MBG) has the potential to increase Indonesia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 1.94 percent.

Bank Mandiri Chief Economist Andry Asmoro said that the program made by the Prabowo-Gibran government also had an increase in the output multiplier by IDR 824.7 trillion, with an increase in the national added value of IDR 379.6 trillion. In addition, the Free Nutrition Food program also has a growth contribution to its various derivative sectors.

"Of course (the impact of the derivative sector) is the first (sector) of food and beverage supply, and the second is the food and beverage industry (sector), and it reaches the transportation and distribution (sector)," Andry said, quoting Antara.

He projects that the supply of food and drink sectors can grow 54.6 percent. Then followed by the food and beverage industry (16.9 percent) sector, wholesale and retail trade, not cars and motorcycles (5.2 percent), and the fisheries sector (3.3 percent).

The food crop agriculture sector, the plantation sector for an annual season, and the livestock sector also experienced growth of 3.1 percent, 2.6 percent, and 2.5 percent, respectively.

"There is an opportunity in the future with the government's Free Nutrition Food program, of course there will be an impact on the derivative sector," he explained.

In addition, Andry continued, the Free Nutrition Food program is also projected to increase the national workforce by 7.68 million people.

It is known that the Free Nutrition Eating program budget has been allocated IDR 71 trillion in the 2025 State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN).
