Macau Open 2024: Fikri/Daniel's Shortest Journey
JAKARTA Moves for the men's doubles pair Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin to stop in the second round of the Macau Open 2024. The journey is the shortest step in their five tournaments since it was overhauled.
They had to leave early after losing the rubber game 18-21, 21-14, 11-21 against the Malaysian pair, Nur Mohd Azriyn Ayub Azriyn/Tan Wee Kiong, on Thursday, September 26, 2024, afternoon WIB.
Throughout the first game, the two pairs played solidly together. The pursuit of numbers throughout the game was inevitable.
In the second game, Fikri/Daniel played more nicely and pressed their opponents from start to finish. After falling behind in the first number, they got up with three points in a row and were not overtaken again after.
In the deciding game, tight numbers took place early in the game. Fikri/Daniel had taken the lead several times, but the opponent got up and kept chasing.
The Malaysian pair, who had been 7-8 behind, then scored 10 consecutive points. The unequal position made the Indonesian pair not move at all.
The achievement was Fikri/Daniel's worst result compared to their previous four tournaments at the Japan Open, Korea Open, Hong Kong Open, and China Open 2024.
In the four major events, Fikri/Daniel were recorded to be able to reach the semifinals three times and return home in the last eight once, namely in Hong Kong.
Apart from Fikri/Daniel, Yohanes Saut Marcellyno's men's singles also ran aground in the second round of the BWF Super 300 level tournament.
They failed to follow in the footsteps of mixed doubles Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle and the women's singles Kusuma Wardani who managed to lock up the last eight ticket.
