KSAU Calls Space A New Power Of Indonesian Air Defense

JAKARTA - Air Force Chief of Staff (KSAU) Marshal TNI Mohamad Tonny Harjono said that his party would use the space area as a new force in protecting Indonesia's airspace sovereignty.

"I want to emphasize that space is the future of our defense. Space control will be the key to national sovereignty in this modern era," said Tonny's remarks read by the Air Force Academy Governor Marshal Purwoko Aji Prabowo at the opening of an online seminar entitled Space Capability Development in Strengthening Indonesia's Defense with the Establishment of Space Units monitored in Jakarta, Thursday, September 26.

In his remarks, TNI Marshal Mohamad Tonny said that the Indonesian Air Force is currently committed to building a space unit so that Indonesia can use the space area as a military force.

He then gave an example of several countries that have implemented this, such as the United States, India, and China.

According to the KSAU, the country has spent large enough funds to invest in space research. They managed to take advantage of space forces with their science and technology.

"The country uses space as an intelligence, reconnaissance observation. This situation presents its own challenges for Indonesia, especially in the Indonesian Air Force," said TNI Tonny.

The KSAU confirmed that it needed large funds and superior and professional quality human resources (HR) to advance this space unit.

Therefore, he hopes that this discussion will lead to various ideas, ideas, and positive views that can encourage the formation of space units.

The discussion was attended by several parties from the military and researchers, including the Director General of Defense of the Ministry of Defense Marsda TNI Haris Haryanto, Kadiskomek AU Marsma TNI Penny Radjendra, researcher of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Chusnul Tri Judianto, and President Director of PT Pasifik Satelit Nusantara (PSN) Adi Rahman Adiwoso.
