BangkaLAN - Bangkalan Police have named a student with the initials A as a suspect in the case of persecution of D as his girlfriend who had gone viral on social media.

Bangkalan Police Chief AKBP Febri Isman Jaya said, based on the results of the investigation including the title of the case, the status of the UTM industrial engineering student was raised from the one who was originally a suspect.

"We have also held a case, so that the status of the man with the initials A has been raised as a suspect. This is based on repeated acts of persecution, namely there are about 4 times," said Bangkalan Police Chief AKBP Febri Isman Jaya, Tuesday, September 24.

Febri Isman said that the incident that was carried out last time was only triggered by a trivial matter, namely only because his girlfriend did not take his cellphone.

"The suspect was angry because when he contacted him, his cellphone was not picked up when he went to the victim's boarding house. At that time the victim was sleeping. After waking up and meeting on the terrace, the victim was beaten," he explained again.

To the police, suspect A admitted that he was emotional because his girlfriend's attitude had changed recently. According to him, he and the victim were dating for 1.5 years.

"Because of emotion. It's true that I hit him. If he is contacted or I send a message, he rarely says anything, dear," suspect A told the police.

As a result of his actions, the suspect was charged with Article 351 of the Criminal Code concerning Persecution and was threatened with a maximum sentence of two years in prison.

Currently, the Trunojoyo Madura University campus has given administrative sanctions to the perpetrators after the viral beating. Meanwhile, the victim continued to be accompanied by a team of UTM psychiatrists to recover the trauma he experienced.
