BYD Shark Confirmed To Be Present In Australia Next Year, Take A Peek At The Specifications

JAKARTA - BYD not only carries various passenger vehicle models, but it is also certain that it will present the hybrid pickup known as Shark.

Citing from the Drive page, Tuesday, September 24, the pickup, known as Shark 6, will launch in Australia next year (2025), and will be a strong challenger for the Ford Ranger to the Toyota Hilux.

Previously, the BYD Shark 6 prototype has been tested on Australian roads since late 2023, it is hoped that by the launch it will gain a lot of development that is tailored to the Australian market.

Seeing the specifications, BYD Shark 6 is powered by a four-cylinder 1.5 liter turbocharged gasoline engine assisted by two 310 Nm electric motors in the front doubles and 340 Nm in the back doubles.

This pickup output is claimed to be 320 kw and capable of accelerating 0-100 km/hour within 5.7 seconds. BYD claims the hybrid driving range of gasoline plus electricity reaches 840 km.

Regarding the battery, BYD Shark can get an LFP battery with a capacity of 29.6 kWh which is claimed to be sufficient to cover a distance of 100 kilometers without using gasoline.

No official price has been announced yet, but recently a database from the Australian government leaked and the price was revealed to be in the range of 68,000 Australian dollars or around Rp705 million.
