Good News, European Cup 2020 Officially Uses The 5 Substitution Rules
JAKARTA - Teams will be allowed to make five substitutions per match during the Euro 2020 tournament in June, the UEFA executive committee decided on Wednesday local time.
Five substitutions were used temporarily due to difficulties caused by tight fixtures during the COVID-19 pandemic, and are currently being applied to European club matches as well as European zone World Cup qualifying matches.
"Due to the reason that the five substitutions rule remains in effect ... and considering that the rule already exists for World Cup qualifying matches which will take place from March 2021 to March 2022, it was decided to extend the amendments to the UEFA EURO 2020 in June/July 2021, the UEFA Nations final. League in October 2021 and the relegation play-out of the UEFA Nations League in March 2022", the European Football Association said in a statement.
UEFA also lifted the 30 percent capacity limit at stadiums, opting to leave the decision on attendance to local authorities, a move that would allow some venues to allow more supporters to come to the stadium during the roll-out of Euro 2020.
There will be no vote on the reforms of the Champions League competition from 2024, and UEFA will take a vote on the planned next executive meeting on April 19.
