Coordinating Minister Airlangga: RI Ready To Implement Biodiesel B40 In 2025

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto assessed that Indonesia is ready to implement mandatory biodiesel B40 fuel oil (BBM) by 2025.

B40 merupakan BBM dengan campuran bahan bakar komposisi 40 persen minyak sawit dan 60 persen solar.

"The readiness (BBM) B40 is ready because we are now (BBM) B35," said Airlangga during the 2024 Green Initiative Conference in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, September 24.

He also mentioned that there were no obstacles during the B40 production process.

The program to increase biodiesel B35 to B40 is part of the government's efforts to carry out the energy transition from dependence on fossil fuels to renewable energy sources.

Later, the implementation of B40 will suck up a lot of use of crude palm oil (CPO) as the basic material for this fuel.

However, Airlangga ensured that the supply of CPO would remain sufficient for the needs of B40.

"That's enough, (CPO) is enough. Now (already biodiesel) B35," he said.

To meet the supply of domestic needs, Indonesia has issued a policy to limit CPO exports. This has an impact on the price of CPO palm oil in the global market which is starting to rise.

As for the Director General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Eniaya Listiani Dewi, said that her party is currently preparing infrastructure to increase biodiesel from B40 to B50.

In fact, the government has also made a study to increase biodiesel to B60.
