Just Inaugurated For 2 Weeks, 3 Members Of The Mentawai Islands DPRD Were Arrested After The Sabu Party In Padang

Three members of the DPRD of the Mentawai Islands Regency, West Sumatra, who had only been inaugurated for two weeks, along with a private employee, were arrested by the Padang Police Narcotics Satres Team during a shabu party at a five-star hotel in Padang City, Friday night.

From the results of the search, the officers managed to confiscate a package of methamphetamine and its suction device.

This arrest was made when the Padang Police Narcotics Satres Team received information about suspicious activities at the hotel. The four suspects, identified with the initials S, M, and M, are members of the Mentawai Islands Regency DPRD for the period 2024-2029

Meanwhile, the other suspect, with the initials AA, is a private employee who is a friend of the three members of the council.

"The Padang Police Narcotics Unit received information and conducted an investigation. During a search, a package of methamphetamine was found," Padang Police Chief, Kombes Pol Ferry Harahap, Monday, September 23.

"Further development at the hotel also found other perpetrators along with other evidence," continued Ferry when releasing the case at the Padang Police Headquarters.

According to police information, the four suspects had undergone a urine test and tested positive for using methamphetamine. Currently, the police are still developing to find a supplier of narcotics that provides methamphetamine to the suspects.

The four suspects were charged under Articles 112 and 114 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, with a minimum penalty of five years and a maximum of twelve years in prison.
