PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports) ensures the readiness of all airports to support the smooth running of the MotoGP event 27-29 September 2024 at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.

"InJourney Airports and airlines also ensure the availability of airplane passenger seats," said InJourney Airports President Director Faik Fahmi in a statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, September 24.

Faik said that three airports were prepared to be the main supporters of the Indonesian MotoGP event, especially related to flight connectivity, airport infrastructure and service standards.

He said 37 InJourney Airports supported the success of MotoGP, where three airports were the main supporters, namely Lombok International Airport, Bali I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport and Tangerang Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

According to him, the number of MotoGP 2024 spectators in Mandalika is targeted to reach 130,000 people who come from various cities at home and abroad.

"InJourney Airports collaborates with stakeholders including airlines to ensure flight connectivity and the availability of airplane seats to accommodate the needs of tourists or the Mandalika MotoGP audience," explained Faik.

In addition to preparing flights, InJourney Airports also ensures the maintenance of service standards at all airports.

His party ensures that MotoGP tourists or spectators can experience journal experience and hospitality from the airport of origin to the airport destination in Lombok, thus completing their experience in watching the Mandalika MotoGP.

Lombok Airport is the main door for tourist arrivals and spectators as well as the MotoGP team, including logistics.

He said that from September 15 to October 1, 2024, Lombok International Airport operates 24 hours to accommodate the high number of flight traffic.

"Currently, there have been requests for 74 additional flights (extra flights) from 4 national airlines in the period September 22 - October 1, 2024," he said.

The peak of passenger movement is estimated on September 29, 2024, with 12,573 passengers or an increase of 23 percent compared to the peak of passenger movement in MotoGP 2023 as many as 10,351 passengers.

Infrastructure at Lombok International Airport is confirmed to be ready to serve high flight traffic.

He explained, through development, since 2021 Lombok Airport has operated with a runway of 3,300 meters so that it is able to serve wide-body aircraft (wide body) in the Boeing 777 class, from the previous 2,750 meters.

"This airport is also equipped with aprons with a capacity of 20 parking stands for aircraft and passenger terminal capacity which increases from 3.5 million passengers per year to 7 million passengers per year," said Faik.

Meanwhile, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport (Bali) located not far from Lombok will act as a connecting airport for tourists who want to watch MotoGP.

From Bali, there are direct flights to Lombok operated by a number of airlines, including Citilink, Garuda Indonesia and Wings Air. This airport can also be a place for aircraft parking, if the plane parking capacity is not sufficient at Lombok Airport.

Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Tangerang) also has an important role in ensuring flight connectivity in supporting the MotoGP event in Lombok. As the largest and busiest airport in Indonesia, Soekarno-Hatta Airport is the main door for the country as well as a domestic flight hub.

In the period September 23 - October 1, 2024 or before and after the Lombok MotoGP event, Soekarno-Hatta Airport has received a request for 23 extra flights from airlines on the Jakarta - Lombok (take off and landing) route.

It is projected that flights at Soekarno-Hatta Airport for the Jakarta - Lombok route during that period reached 193 flights (take off and landing), an increase of about 12 percent compared to normal conditions of 170 flights.
