Boxer Dubois Overthrows Joshua In The Fifth Round

JAKARTA - Boxer Daniel Dubois managed to defend the International Boxing Federation (IBF) heavyweight title after overthrowing Anthony Joshua in a fight at Wembley Stadium, London, Saturday, September 21.

Dubois needed five rounds to level Joshua with a knockout (KO), after dominating the game since the first round.

"Are you not entertained?" said Dubois as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, September 22.

Dubois has been throwing powerful punches since the opening bell and his efforts paid off when he brought Joshua down with a right overhand at the end of the first round.

Joshua tried to put up a fight after almost knockout, but he could never attack and bring down Dubois to close the gap.

Entering the second round, Dubois again launched an attack quickly which put Joshua in a completely defensive position.

The British boxer was not affected by Joshua's punch and he continued to press for a settlement.

His attack almost finished the game at the end of the third round, when Joshua was dropped back before the bell rang.

Joshua slipped and slid around the ring after getting pressure even though he looked full of enthusiasm, smiled, and stuck out his tongue when his opponent attacked him.

Dubois ended the fight in the 59th second of the fifth round by landing a counter-attack that destroyed Joshua, which made him knelt and unable to answer referee Marcus McDonnell's count.

With this victory, Dubois, who previously held the interim championship belt, managed to defend the undisputed IBF heavyweight title.

He recorded 24 matches with 22 wins and 2 defeats. Of the 22 wins that Dubois got, 21 of them ended in KO.
