50 Israeli Airstrikes Cause Fires In South Lebanon

JAKARTA - A wave of airstrikes by Israeli warplanes in southern Lebanon on Saturday (21/9) resulted in fires in a number of cities in the region.

Various social media accounts spread images of fires in southern cities following the attack.

According to the Lebanese National News Agency, as reported by ANTARA, Sunday, September 22, Israeli warplanes have carried out more than 50 airstrikes in border cities in southern Lebanon.

The attacks targeted several cities, including Zawtar, Wadi Rumein, Deir El Zahrani, al-Lwaiza, Mlikh, Barti, Kafr Melki, and El-Rihane, the broadcaster said.

Israeli warplanes also launched three airstrikes in a forested area between the cities of Azza and Deir El Zahrani.

The attack came a day after at least 38 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut on Friday.

Hezbollah confirmed that at least 16 of its members, including senior leader Ibrahim Aqil and main commander Ahmed Wahbi, were killed in the Israeli attack.

The attack comes two days after at least 39 people were killed and more than 3,000 injured in two blasts of wireless communications devices across Lebanon.

The Lebanese and Hezbollah governments blamed Israel for the explosion, while Tel Aviv did not confirm or confirm its involvement.

Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah have escalated amid an escalation of cross-border shootouts since the start of the deadly Israeli war in the Gaza Strip.

Israel's invasion of the Gaza Strip alone has killed nearly 41,400 people, mostly women and children.
