BKSDA Installs Tiger Traps With Leftover Beef

JAKARTA - The Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) has again installed trap bait in the form of remaining cows that have been eaten by Sumatran tigers or the Sumatran tigris tigris in Gembung Raya and Kinal Jaya villages, North Bengkulu Regency.

"Yes, Resort Seblat is coordinating with the local village head, it is possible that the remaining cows eaten by the tiger will be used as bait for trapping," said Bengkulu BKSDA Region I Conservation Section Head Said Jauhari, quoting ANTARA, Sunday, September 22.

He mentioned that the remaining cattle feed that had been eaten some time ago was more effective in luring tigers into trap cages.

This is because, based on the results of monitoring, there are two tigers in the Districts of Napal Putih and Pinang Raya, North Bengkulu Regency.

For this reason, Said asked the public not to take action on their own if they meet or see tigers so that they can endanger themselves and wildlife.

Previously, on Saturday (21/9) the Sector Police (Polsek) Ulok Kupai, North Bengkulu Regency received a report that there were livestock belonging to residents of Kinal Village, Napal Putih District, which was eaten by tigers at 02.30 WIB.

In addition to preying on cattle, tigers also preyed on two dogs on Friday (20/9) and one dog on Saturday (21/9).

It is known that the Bengkulu BKSDA some time ago carried out socialization to communities in Gembung Raya Village, Napal Putih District regarding the handling of Sumatran tigers.

"BKSDA Bengkulu also conducts socialization to the community regarding the handling of negative interactions between Sumatran tigers and humans in Gembung Raya Village, North Bengkulu Regency," said Said.

In addition to conducting socialization, BKSDA has also installed traps for Sumatran tigers in Napal Putih District, North Bengkulu Regency.
