Cybersecurity Experts Express The Dark Side Of Digital Transformation

JAKARTA - Thanks to technology, it is easier for people to access information anywhere and anytime. However, there is a dark side to digital transformation, such as cyber attacks and digital fraud.

As a leading cybersecurity expert, Mikko Hypp"onen explores the dark side of technological changes, especially the presence of Generative AI, which not only offers many benefits and innovations, but also brings new challenges.

"Unlike previous technological revolutions that had an impact on coarse workers (blue collars) such as mass production machines, generative AI targets the profession of office workers (white collars), including programming and legal services," Mikko said in a written statement quoted on Sunday, September 22.

Furthermore, in the current cybersecurity landscape, Mikko said that cyber attacks are no longer carried out by individuals, but by highly organized criminal groups.

According to him, these groups take advantage of the latest technology, adjust attacks, and form strategic partnerships to maximize material benefits.

"Cyber crime has developed into a business model like companies in general," he explained further.

Mikko emphasized that if these criminal organizations were legitimate companies, they would be considered unicorns because of their significant income, profitability and growth.

"However, unlike successful technology companies, this organization will never be listed on the stock exchange or look for an exit strategy. This situation emphasizes how large the current scale of cybercrime problems is," he concluded.

Therefore, it is important for companies to adopt sophisticated solutions to address threats that could jeopardize their operations and threaten the safety of their customers.
