2 Police Officers In South Sulawesi Who Participate In The Paslon Pilkada Bone Disanction

The Profession and Security Division of the South Sulawesi Regional Police took action against two officers for alleged violations of neutrality to participate in practical politics in the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada.

"We are currently handling two South Sulawesi Regional Police officers who are suspected of being actively involved in regional election activities in one of the districts," said Head of the South Sulawesi Regional Police's Professional and Security Division (Propam) Kombes Zulham Effendi as reported by ANTARA, Friday, September 20.

The two police officers are suspected of violating neutrality based on documentary evidence participating in the declaration of one of the candidates for regent and deputy regent in Bone Regency.

"This is evidenced temporarily based on documentation, they are at the location where one of the candidate pairs made a declaration and registered with the KPU as a candidate for election participants," said Zulham.

From the information obtained, the first two officers with the rank of Adjunct Commissioner of Police (AKP) each served in the Directorate of Polairud and the Directorate of Traffic of the South Sulawesi Regional Police. However, Zulham did not mention the initials of the member.

"While we examined, we also examined several witnesses. Then from the facts obtained, it was found that there were violations, both discipline and code of ethics, but we are still investigating it again," he explained.

The two officers left for Bone without the leadership's knowledge so they were not carrying out the duties assigned by the leadership.

"He went to the area without the leadership's knowledge, there was no permit, no warrant either, and the trip was approximately six hours. This means that there is no connection with the task and it is present in the declaration of one of the candidates, it is a violation," he said.

For the actions of members who participate in practical politics, added Zulham, sanctions will be given in accordance with the applicable police and laws and regulations.

"What is certain is that in the Election Law, the Police Law, the National Police Chief's Perkap, regarding the neutrality of Polri members, it is clear that there should be no partiality or presence of Polri members at any of the moments related to the declaration or candidacy of one of the regional election participants," said Zulham.

The two South Sulawesi Regional Police officers have now been processed for alleged violations and have been transferred to the Service Section of the South Sulawesi Regional Police Headquarters or Yanma Polda.

"There is now a process, if there is strong evidence that they are actively involved (practice politics), we will conduct a code of ethics trial," he said.

Regarding the witness in the form of removing from office or being subject to mutations to other areas, Zulham said he was still waiting for the results of the examination.

"Meanwhile, the policy is transferred to a place that makes it easier for us to carry out inspections," he said.
