These Are The Three Anindya Bakrie Programs To Support The Prabowo-Gibran Government

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) as a result of the Extraordinary National Conference (Munaslub) Anindya Bakrie explained three main programs to support the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka government.

"We are trying to do three things at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. First, improving public-private partnerships and involving many SOEs," said Anindya in a written statement, quoted from Antara, Thursday, September 19.

Anindya conveyed this, on the sidelines of the 2024 Milken Asia Summit, in Singapore, Wednesday, September 18.

"Secondly, we need to involve more international stakeholders to cooperate with Indonesia, because Indonesia requires a lot of cooperation, investment, and exports. Third, empowering small and medium enterprises, which is 90 percent of companies in Indonesia," he said again.

He said that the good thing about Prabowo's future government is the continuity of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

He acknowledged that he saw real progress on national economic growth of 5.5 percent.

"And Pak Prabowo's focus as president is on structural reforms, digital infrastructure, and energy transitions as well as increasing economic added value," he also said.

Anindya also hopes that the Prabowo-Gibran government will also focus on downstreaming critical minerals.

"Indonesia has many critical minerals such as nickel, copper, and tin which are among the top five in the world as well as potential renewable energy of up to 500 gigawatts. We also have protected and capitalized biodiversity to support industrial growth," he said again.

In addition, he also admitted that he was optimistic about the potential policy of the Prabowo-Gibran Government regarding free trade (FTA) with the United States (US).

"I think Pak Prabowo will strengthen the FTA with the US. Because of what we see, President Prabowo has a geopolitical opportunity to show Indonesia as a leader of Global South, not only as a leader of Southeast Asia, but also as a balancing factor between the East and West which is needed by the world," he said again.

Anindya continued "Seeing his track record (Prabowo) in building diplomacy in the past, including as the current Minister of Defense, we cannot say anything other than optimism about what Indonesia can do in the future".

Anindya was present at the Milken Asia Summit in his capacity as Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as CEO of Bakrie & Brothers, and President Commissioner of VKTR.

He was invited to a discussion on a public session with the theme "Encourage Transition Towards Sustainable Growth". In the discussion, Anindya explained that more and more businesses are turning to green-shoring which is based on priority responsibility towards the environment.

In this case, the Bakrie Group realizes the need to move production to areas that prioritize environmental responsibility which also opens up great investment opportunities, especially in Indonesia.

Anindya added that Indonesia leads with renewable energy potential from biofuels, diesel and geothermal (earth heat) and targets to produce 23 percent of its energy from renewable sources by 2025, in order to support its long-term net-zero emissions strategy.

He also argues that the challenge of switching to green-shoring requires significant investment in infrastructure, green technology, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) compliance with possibly delayed funding returns.
