Megawati Leads East Java To Get A 2024 PON Gold Medal
JAKARTA - Megawati Hanggetri Pertiwi led East Java to beat West Java in the women's volleyball final to win a gold medal at the XXI Aceh National Sports Week (PON)-North Sumatra 2024.
East Java broke West Java's dominance in this event with a 3-1 victory (22-25, 25-23, 25-23, and 25-23) in the match which took place at the North Sumatra Sport Center, Deli Serdang, Thursday, September 19, 2024, evening WIB.
Megawati is actually in preparation for a new season with Red knowledge at the top level of the South Korean volleyball league, V-League. The club has been defended by Megawati since last season.

In the midst of this busy schedule, the 24-year-old volleyball player received permission from Redmen. Megawati's presence also resulted in a final ticket after helping East Java stop DKI Jakarta in the semifinals.
The result in this year's final is a surge in achievements for the East Java women's volleyball team after they were only able to make it to the last eight.
On the other hand, the defeat in the final this year automatically decided on the achievements of the West Java consecutive gold medal. The West Java volleyball team was previously recorded as always coming out as champions in the 2012, 2016, and 2021 PON.
The two contingents as of tonight, Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 21.25, still fill the top three of the medal standings. This position does not seem to change because PON reached its last day on Friday, September 20, 2024.
West Java occupies the first position in the standings with 175 gold, 149 silver, and 152 bronze medals. Meanwhile, East Java filled the third position in the standings with 124 gold, 125 silver, and 131 bronze.
The two flanked DKI Jakarta in second place to collect 168 gold, 131 silver, and 131 bronze. The three of them will not move because they excel far from North Sumatra in fourth place.
