Appearance At China Open 2024 Becomes Leo's Worst Record/Bagas
JAKARTA Ran aground in the second round of the 2024 China Open is still the worst record for Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana in the four tournaments they have participated in since the formation was overhauled.
Leo/Bagas had to remove their suitcases from the tournament after losing rubber games 18-21, 24-22, and 18-21 against the second seed from Denmark, Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen, on Thursday, September 19, 2024, evening WIB.
"This defeat is a lesson for us. The benchmark is how we face the world's top pair," Leo said after the match, quoted from PBSI's official statement.
Prior to appearing in China, the pair were recorded to play at the Japan Open, Korea Open, and the Hong Kong Open 2024.
In the three tournaments, they were eliminated twice in the semifinals. Another, precisely in Korea, they managed to reach the final and even came out as champions.

"Our adjustment is not yet right today with conditions on field one, especially from the wind. It makes our game abnormal, we can't control the shuttlecock rate," said Bagas.
Leo/Bagas were the first Indonesian representatives to be eliminated from this tournament out of a total of six representatives who fought in the second half.
The other four representatives who played before them were Jonatan Christie, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja, and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin. All qualified for the quarter-finals.
The top eight Jonathans after eliminating Toma Junior Popov (France), Anthony repatriated Shi Yuqi (China), Dejan/Gloria against Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei (Malaysia), and Fikri/Daniel broke Liang Wei's dream of "Wang Chang" (China).
