Peter Medalla Officially Leads BMW Group Indonesia, Replace Ramesh Divyanathan
JAKARTA - BMW Group Indonesia has officially appointed Peter Medalla as the new President Director, replacing Ramesh Divyanathan. Medalla is expected to bring fresh air and strengthen BMW's position in Indonesia, a competitive market that continues to grow.
According to Managing Director of BMW Group Asia Lars Nielsen, Medalla was chosen because of its solid track record in the automotive industry. He has extensive experience in various global markets and leadership capabilities that are considered appropriate to increase BMW sales in Indonesia.
"Medalla has the ability to inspire teams and carry out crucial strategic initiatives. This is important to strengthen our position in dynamic markets like Indonesia," Nielsen said in a written statement, Thursday, September 19.
Nielsen also thanked Ramesh Divyanathan for his contribution as President Director of BMW Group Indonesia, which succeeded in appointing Indonesia as one of the main markets for BMW in Asia.
Ramesh's visionary leadership took our business to a higher level, making Indonesia a key market in Asia, he added.

Peter Medalla is not a new figure in the BMW environment. He has joined since 2005, starting his career in the Philippines. During his career, he has held various important positions in the sales, dealer development and marketing division. Medalla has also served as Vice President of BMW Indonesia from 2010 to 2013, where he managed to expand his dealer network and boost market growth, making BMW the leader of a premium brand in Indonesia.
Not only that, Medalla has also served as Head of Mini Asia and General Manager Mini Japan, strengthening her reputation as an executive capable of driving brand growth in various markets.
Meanwhile, Ramesh Divyanathan has twice served as President Director of BMW Group Indonesia, namely in 2009-2014 and 2018-2024. Under his leadership, BMW Group Indonesia set a record as the first premium automotive brand in Indonesia to successfully sell more than 5,000 units in one year.
In addition, Ramesh also managed to lead BMW to become the ruler of the premium electric vehicle market, with a market share of 70 percent by 2023. After this, Ramesh will fill a new position as Director of Customer Support BMW Group Asia, where he will oversee 14 markets in Asia.
