Jokowi Emphasizes The Importance Of Opening New Jobs
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) emphasized the importance of opening new jobs, in the midst of increased automation or use of technology in various sectors.
"If we read it in 2025, there will be 85 million jobs to be lost. A large number is not small. We are required to create jobs," said Jokowi at the inauguration of the XXII Indonesian Economics Bachelors Association (ISEI) Congress and the 2024 National Seminar, in Central Java. reported by ANTARA, Thursday, September 19.
Jokowi said that currently all sectors of work are leading to automation, and the development of automation continues to occur every day.
Therefore, according to him, Indonesia needs to think about opening up job opportunities well.
"If you ask me, where do you focus? For me, now and in the future we must focus on the job market. Because in the future there will be too few job opportunities. For very many workers who need it," he said.
Jokowi said that on the other hand, global turmoil and uncertainty also occurred, and brought challenges to all countries in the world.
