There Are Opportunities For Mees Hilgers And Eliano Reijnders To Take The Oath Of Indonesian Citizens In The Netherlands On September 22

JAKARTA - Good news has come regarding the naturalization of Mees Hilgers and Eliano Reijnders. The two prospective Indonesian national team players have the opportunity to be scheduled to take the oath of Indonesian citizens (WNI) in the Netherlands on Sunday, September 22, 2024.

This positive news was conveyed by the Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham), Supratman Andi Agtas. In a statement received on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, he said the possibility of taking the oath was carried out in the Netherlands because of representatives from the Director General of AHU who would indeed leave for the Netherlands.

"Maybe on Sunday (September 22, 2024, representatives of the Director General of AHU will go there. Hopefully, Monday (September 23, 2024) the process can be processed," said Supratman.

Supratman revealed the reason for taking this oath was carried out in the Land of the Windmills. The reason is, Hilgers and Eliano have a busy schedule to defend their respective clubs in the Dutch League or Eredivisie.

Hilgers is currently listed as part of FC Twenty, while Eliano strengthens fellow Eredivisie team PEC Zwolle.

Hilgers even just finished competing against Heerenveen in the postponed match of Eredivisie, Wednesday, September 18, 2024, early morning WIB.

"Because we are pursuing the target for the next third match (2026 World Cup Qualification), which will take place in Bahrain and those in China."

"If we wait for them to come here today, both of them are not allowed temporarily to leave their respective clubs. Therefore, we proactively take the oath to be held at the Indonesian Embassy in the Netherlands," Supratman said.

Supratman further said that taking the oath of Indonesian citizens at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in the Netherlands remained valid.

"There is no problem because don't forget, the Indonesian Embassy Office is Indonesia's sovereign territory. So, there is no problem," he said.

The Ministry of Law and Human Rights moved quickly because the Indonesian national team needed Hilgers and Eliano to face the continued match of the 2026 World Cup Qualification Third Round.

The Indonesian national team will play two away matches against Bahrain on October 10, 2024, and China on October 15, 2024.

It is hoped that Hilgers and Eliano can be registered and play in the two matches.
