Basuki Calls The Sustainability Of The Peak Toll Road Development Plan In Prabowo Cabinet

JAKARTA - The government's plan to build the Puncak Toll Road has yet to be realized. In fact, this toll road is believed to be one of the solutions to overcome congestion in the Puncak area, West Java.

Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono confirmed that there are plans to build the Puncak Toll Road. This toll road will stretch from Sentul to Taman Bunga.

"Yes, that was there first, there was a plan for the Puncak 2 Toll Road from Sentul to Bunga Park," said Basuki after a Working Meeting (Raker) with Commission V DPR RI at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, September 18.

Even so, Basuki did not provide further information regarding the progress of the project development plan. According to him, the continuation of the project will be decided in the next era of government, namely President-elect Prabowo Subianto.

"It's just a cabinet decision (of course)," he said.

The Puncak area during the long holiday period of the Prophet's Birthday 2024 yesterday experienced traffic jams. In fact, it is said that some road users died due to fatigue breaking through traffic jams.

According to Basuki, there are a number of alternatives that the government can do to help unravel congestion in Puncak, one of which is the implementation of the Regional Road Inpres (IJD). This allows the use of roads in the Puncak area as an alternative route.

"I forgot the area, it's good and has started to develop with tourist attractions such as cottages, not Islamic boarding schools but cafes," he added.

Previously, Spokesperson for the Ministry of PUPR Endra S. Atmawidjaja said that the Puncak Toll Road project was not a priority to be built in 2024.

The reason is, the process of studying the feasibility study or feasibility study of the toll road project has not been completed until now.

"The FS has not been completed. That's called FS, our considerations are not only technical. There are economic and environmental considerations. If the three fulfill it, we will consider it appropriate," said Endra when met at his office, Jakarta, Friday, February 2.
