Hilux Is Getting More And More, Toyota Confirms There Will Be A Big Surprise In Its Latest Generation

JAKARTA The current or eighth generation of Toyota Hilux was released in 2015 which is almost entering the age of ten years. The manufacturer made several changes to this pickup so that it looks newer with features that are also updated.

Although there is still no clarity regarding the latest Hilux, Toyota ensures that it will fight for the existence of this pickup and promises that there will be big news about this model.

This was caught by Australian Toyota Vice President Sales & Marketing Sean Hanley but he couldn't tell him at this time.

"We make sure we don't leave Hilux and there will be big news about it. But, it can't be announced at this time," Hanley was quoted as saying by CarsGuide, Wednesday, September 18.

This also continues the previous news saying that the next generation of Hilux will arrive in 2025 or mark the end of the eighth generation being sold today. However, further information about this pickup is likely to be revealed ahead of next year.

The eighth generation of Toyota Hilux is one of the oldest models in its segment and makes it quite lagging behind rivals. Meanwhile, models in other pickup markets such as the Ford Ranger have changed generations since 2022.

At the beginning of this year, this tough pickup was rested for the third time for several markets including Indonesia. This car is said to be suitable for meeting various needs ranging from business to lifestyle.

In Indonesia, PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) sells the Hilux facelift equipped with a 2GD-FTV 2,400 cc diesel engine which produces a total power of 147 ps and a torque of 400 Nm. This car is offered with an automatic transmission of six accelerations and a manual of five accelerations.

Regarding the price, the manufacturer sells the pickup at a price starting from IDR 442.2 million for type E 4X4 M/T, IDR 475.6 million for G M/T, and the most expensive is IDR 526.5 million for type V A/T.

Meanwhile, the model is also offered with 48V mid-hybrid (MHEV) movers for several markets including Europe.

For European specifications, Hilux is given a 2.8 liter diesel engine combined with the 48V lithium-ion battery that has been developed. Thus, the power offered reaches 150 kW and 500 Nm torque.
