China Open 2024: Fajar/Rian Qualify For The Second Round

JAKARTA - Indonesian men's doubles pair, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, managed to reach the second round of the 2024 China Open.

They secured the second ticket in the men's doubles after stopping the South Korean pair, Choi Sol-gyu/Heo Kwang-hee, two straight games 21-11 and 21-14 on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, afternoon WIB.

"We are grateful to be back in the field of the match after the Japan Open 2024. We have prepared approximately three weeks," said Fajar in an official statement from PBSI.

The 2024 China Open is Fajar/Rian's second tournament after failing to climb the podium at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Previously, when they appeared in Japan, they managed to reach the quarter-finals.

After that, there were two Super 500 BWF level tournaments that the world's former number one pair missed. The two events in question are the Korea Open and the Hong Kong Open 2024.

"Preparatoryly so far it's quite good, but still the air of the match is always different from the air in training. So, we still need adjustments. Hopefully tomorrow we can play even better," said Rian.

Fajar/Rian are Indonesia's second men's doubles who got tickets for the round of 16. They followed the steps of the pair Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin, who first qualified yesterday.

Men's doubles is the sector with the most representatives at the 2024 China Open. In total, Indonesia has five pairs, followed by the men's singles of three representatives, and one women's singles each and mixed doubles.
