Appearing At The 2024 China Open, Gregoria Shows Declining Graphics

JAKARTA The women's singles badminton player Gregoria Mariska Tunjung again got bad results in her second tournament after winning the bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

His latest defeat was in the first round of the 2024 China Open which took place at the Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium, China, on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, afternoon WIB.

Gregoria, who was present as the fifth seed in the BWF Super 1000 level event, was eliminated in the first round after losing two straight games 24-26 and 19-21 against India's singles, Malvika Bansod.

"Today I did not show the level of my best game. I should have been able to play better than I showed earlier," said Gregoria in a statement received.

Before the China Open 2024, the 25-year-old badminton player played at the Hong Kong Open 2024 last week. There, he walked until the second half before being beaten by Thailand's representative, Ratchanok Intanon.

Gregoria said that the defeat in these two tournaments became a hard slap against her. Apart from unsatisfactory results, his performance was also disappointing.

"The biggest difficulty of today's match was indeed my slow movement. From the rallies too, I only followed the rhythm of the opponent who was confident, making my game uncomfortable. In addition, I did not initiate the attack," he said.

Gregoria's defeat automatically made Indonesia no longer have representatives in the women's singles. This Wonogiri badminton player is the only Indonesian women's singles to play at the 2024 China Open.

Indonesia has a total of 10 representatives playing at the 2024 China Open. Gregoria is also the second representative of Indonesia to be eliminated, following in the footsteps of Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo's men who returned on the first day yesterday.

Apart from women's singles, Indonesia also does not have representatives in women's doubles. The sector did not send representatives to the China Open 2024 at all.
