Helena Lim Keram Neck, Tin Corruption Trial Postponed

The defendant Helena Lim asked the panel of judges to postpone the trial process in the case of alleged corruption in the management of tin commodity trading procedures in the mining business permit (IUP) area of PT Timah Tbk for the period 2015 to 2022. This is because Crazy rich Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) had runny around his neck.

Originally, in today's trial, the Public Prosecutor (JPU) would present five witnesses.

"I'm not feeling well because my neck muscles are running low," said Helena during a trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Wednesday, September 18.

Responding to the request, Chief Justice Rianto Adam Pontoh first confirmed the condition of the defendant.

"Can you take part in the trial?" asked Judge Pontoh.

"Just can't be zero," replied Helena.

Helena asked the panel of judges to postpone the trial today. Moreover, the conditions that are claimed to be impossible.

"If permissible, they are allowed not to attend the trial, Your Honor. If you wish, you may not participate in the trial, Your Majesty," said Helena.

The panel of judges also invited Helena to coordinate with her legal advisory team regarding her condition and decision regarding the sustainability of the trial process.

"After I discussed, maybe with the permission of the panel, if allowed from the defendant not to attend the trial this time because considering the condition of the defendant's neck, I also asked if he had sat for a long time, His Majesty was sick here. So he must be in a state of lying down, Your Majesty," replied legal adviser Helena Lim.

"According to the Criminal Procedure Code, if the defendant is sick, he cannot be examined, not because of my will. Because I have to comply with the Criminal Procedure Code," said Pontoh.

"Today it can't be continued because you are sick, for your examination you are checked on Wednesday and Thursday, next week," continued Pontoh.

In this case, Helena Lim was charged with helping Harvey Moeis accommodate security money from five private smelters worth Rp420 billion.

By helping Harvey Moeis, the defendant Helena Lim made a profit of around Rp900 million.

"Defendant Helena through PT Quantum Skyline Exchange received a total profit of approximately Rp900 million with a calculation of Rp 30 times USD 30 million, the amount exchanged at PT Quantum Skyline Exchange," said the prosecutor.
