Hoping PDIP Party to Support Prabowo-Gibran, Gerindra Wants Effective Government

JAKARTA - Secretary General (Sekjen) of the Gerindra Party Ahmad Muzani said that his party hopes that PDIP Party will support the government of the elected president and vice president Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Muzani assessed that the unity of all political forces will make the government run effectively.

"We want the government of Mr. Prabowo-Gibran to be more effective and the situation more conducive, harmony, and friendship can be created. Therefore, we will embrace and approach as many political party forces as possible," said Muzani at the House of Representatives (DPR) building, parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday yesterday.

Prabowo-Gibran, said Muzani, will focus on completing the people's campaign promises including realizing better economic growth. According to him, this requires the unity of all elements of the nation, including sharing existing political power.

"So that the government is calmer, the people can be calmer so that there is better economic growth, there is better community movement, more optimism and more confidence in facing the future," he said.

Furthermore, Muzani said, so far Gerindra's communication with PDIP has been well established.

"Our communication with PDIP Party is good, smooth, there are approaches and methods that may be different but often our goals are the same. We don't meet on the street but meet at intersections, often like that. So actually the difference is just a way of how that noble goal is achieved," concluded Muzani.

Previously, PDIP Party Central Executive Board (DPP) Chairman Said Abdullah said PDIP would support the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka government if their visions were the same. According to Said, PDIP Party could provide support even though it did not get a ministerial quota in Prabowo's cabinet.

"If PDIP's stance doesn't need to be too specific, PDIP will determine its positioning when, where, and so on, that's not the issue. The issue is, how PDIP sees the nation's vision for the next 5 years under President Prabowo," said Said.
