Ahead Of Prabowo's Government, Cattle Imports Increase By 44.09 Percent

JAKARTA The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that imports of live animals in the form of Cows or Lembu in August 2024 rose 44.09 percent compared to August 2023.

Deputy for Distribution and Services of BPS, Pudji Ismartini, said that cow imports have decreased monthly or month to month (mtm). However, on an annual basis or year on year (yoy) has increased.

"The import of live animals in the Lembu type if the HS monthly decreases by 22.09 percent, while on an annual basis it increases by 44.09 percent and cumulatively increases by 40.22 percent," said Pudji at a press conference, Tuesday, September 17.

The import of cattle or cattle in August 2024 mainly came from Australia amounting to 44.75 million US dollars or lower than in July 2024 which reached 57.44 million US dollars.

Meanwhile, cumulatively from January to August 2024, beef imports reached US$340.23 million. This figure is higher than the same period last year of US$242.65 million.

Meanwhile, the import volume of cattle or cattle reached 18.70 million tons in August 2024, a decrease compared to July 2024 of 22.73 tons.

Meanwhile, cumulatively from January to August 2024, the import volume of cattle or cattle reached 129,7352 tons, an increase compared to the same period in 2023 of 81,248 tons.
