Viral Allegations Of Animated Company Bullying In Menteng, Director General Of Human Rights Will Coordinate With The Ministry Of Manpower
JAKARTA - The Director General (Dirjen) of Human Rights (HAM), Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Dhana Putra, emphasized that bullying in the world of work should not be tolerated.
The statement was conveyed by the Director General of Human Rights following allegations of bullying that occurred at an animation company in Menteng, Central Jakarta, Brandoville Studios, which later went viral on social media.
"If this is true, as discussed on X (formerly Twitter), especially when there is a threat to the lives of employees, this kind of bullying issue should not be allowed," said Dhana in a statement in Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, September 17.
The Director General of Human Rights promised that his party would coordinate with the Ministry of Manpower (Kemenaker) and the Department of Manpower, Transmigration and Energy (Disnakertransgi) of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to explore the issue of bullying.
"Of course, we will immediately build communication with the Ministry of Manpower and the Jakarta Provincial Government Manpower and Transmigration Office to trace information related to this, and also have there been labor violations committed by the company?" he said.
Furthermore, Dhana appealed to companies not to ignore workers' rights, including those related to mental health. The Director General of Human Rights is worried that the treatment of Brandoville Studios superiors reflects neglect of mental health.
He explained that Article 35 paragraph (3) and Article 71 paragraph (2) letter c of Law Number 13 of 2003 concerning Manpower have regulated that mental health in working is part of the rights of a worker. "Of course, the company should not ignore it," said the Director General of Human Rights.
The mental health of the workforce is also a human rights that must be respected by the company. The government is currently encouraging the mainstreaming of human rights in the business sector, through Presidential Regulation Number 60 of 2023 concerning the National Strategy of Business and Human Rights.
The Director General of Human Rights believes that the mental health of the workforce has a serious impact on the company's productivity which ultimately affects the company's competitiveness and sustainability.
