Latvian Foreigner Arrested In Bali For Carrying Hasis Drugs
DENPASAR - The National Narcotics Agency of Bali Province revealed that a foreign national from Latvia named Vladimir S (VS) who was involved in an international narcotics network on the Island of the Gods came using a visit visa.
"Vladimir, he's actually a network cut off, he received orders to bring goods to Indonesia. Here he doesn't even know who will accept it, but we have already secured it first. He also doesn't know who it is intended for," said the Head of the Bali BNNP Eradication Division Kombes I Made Sinar Subawa at a press conference in Denpasar, Tuesday, September 17.
Subawa said the man from Riga, Latvia, was the first time he came to Indonesia using a visit visa.
He explained that based on the collaboration between BNNP Bali and the Customs and Excise Supervision and Service Office of Customs Type Ngurah Rai, officers managed to secure VS at the I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Arrival Terminal on Monday, July 22, 2024.
Based on the results of his bag examination, officers found narcotics with a weight of 450.41 grams net and marijuana-type narcotics weighing 977.83 grams net.
According to VS's confession, Subawa said, hashish narcotics were obtained from Nepal, while marijuana was obtained from Thailand. The marijuana and hashish was hidden in the perpetrator's suitcase.
After further investigation, VS is also suspected of being a member of a gangster affiliated with an international drug network.

"The results of the examination showed tattoos on VS's body indicating that VS was affiliated with organized crime groups in the former Soviet Union," said Subawa.
VS was charged with Article 113 paragraph (2) or Article 111 Paragraph (2) of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with the threat of life imprisonment or imprisonment for a minimum of five years and a maximum of 20 years.
Currently, the case file VS is already P21 and is waiting for the transfer schedule to the public prosecutor.
