OpenAI Creates New Security And Safety Committee Without Altman

JAKARTA - OpenAI announced the creation of the Security and Safety Committee (SSC), which is tasked with making recommendations regarding important decisions regarding security and safety from the new OpenAI model.

Later, the Committee will conduct a 90-day review of the processes and protection related to safety and safety as well as models, then make recommendations to the entire Council.

"We are committed to continuing to improve our approach in releasing a very capable and safe model, and appreciate the important role the Security and Safety Committee will play," the company wrote in its official announcement on Monday, September 16.

The Safety and Security Committee will be led by Zico Kolter, Director of the Department of Machine Learning at the Computer Sciences School at Carnegie Mellon University, and includes Adam D'Angelo, co-founder and CEO of Quora.

In addition, there are also other members such as retired US Army Generals Paul Nakasone and Nicole Seligman as former EVP and General Advisor to Sony Corporation.

The new committee replaced the previous Safety and Security Committee which was formed in June 2024, which also involved Altman as one of its members.

The committee will oversee, among other things, the security and safety processes that guide the development and implementation of the OpenAI model.
