Garuda Indonesia Increases Flight Capacity For The 2024 Mandalika MotoGP
JAKARTA - The national airline PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) is ready to increase the flight capacity of the Lombok route, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) during the Mandalika MotoGP international event on 27-29 September 2024.
"Of course we have additional, now there are 8,000 seats and quotas are still waiting, if needed we will add more," said Garuda Indonesia President Director Irfan Setiaputra in Tangerang, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, September 11.
He said that the additional flight capacity was carried out as a support and success for the Mandalika MotoGP event which will be held from 27 to 29 September.
In addition, efforts to increase the capacity of Garuda Indonesia airline services are to make it easier for officials, riders and MotoGP spectators to go to Mandalika.
"At the first time the MotoGP event was held as far as I remember, there were 23 flights to Lombok, which were usually only two, so we also prepared several routes and apologized to other passengers if necessary to be transferred to Lombok," he said.
In this case, Irfan did not specify in detail the addition of aircraft capacity and operations to the flight service to Lombok.
However, his party will fully support to provide flight services for Mandalika's destination.
One of his commitments to support is launching a Boeing 737-800NG with the livery of IndonesiaGP, Mandalika in Tangerang on Wednesday.
This livery aircraft, which has a color design, graphics, and identity for the MotoGP event, is the result of a collaboration between Garuda Indonesia and PT Pembangunan Pariwisata Indonesia (ITDC).
"In the vicinity of the MotoGP performance, we will ensure that both spectators and tourists can be served well from our airlines," he explained.
He revealed that Garuda Indonesia designed an aircraft that displayed the pattern of this world motorcycle racing event, which was one of his strategies in attracting prospective flight passengers on the Garuda plane to Mandalika.
However, with this new concept, it is believed that it will be an attraction for local and foreign countries to visit tourism at the MotoGP event.
"We hope that this will encourage them to come to Mandalika in MotoGP," he said.
