Trump Says He Wants Ukraine-Russia War To End, Accuses Harris Of Failing Peace Negotiations

JAKARTA - Donald Trump said Kamala Harris failed to secure peace when she was sent to negotiate with Ukraine and Russia, saying she wanted the war of the two countries to end.

"I want the war to stop," Republican presidential candidate Trump said in a debate with rivals from the Democratic Party Harris, when asked if he wanted Ukraine to win against Russia.

The debate of former Trump president with incumbent vice president Harris was held at the National Constitution Center, Philadelphia with David Muir and Linsey Davis, on Tuesday night local time and without spectators attending.

"With that, I want this war to be over," he said.

Trump further said he had good relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. "I will finish it even before I (was appointed) president," he said.

When asked to clarify his stance on whether the US has the best interest in Ukraine to win the war, Trump said:

"I think it is in the best interest of the US to resolve this war and resolve it - negotiate an agreement because we must stop all destroyed human lives."

Trump on the occasion also said Kamala Harris failed to secure peace after being sent to negotiate with the leaders of Ukraine and Russia.

"I said at the beginning of this debate, you will hear a lot of lies from this person. And that is one more thing," Harris said when asked moderator if he had met Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Harris said he had met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky several times.

"In reality, this is about standing as America should be, as a leader who upholds international rules and norms. As a leader who shows strength, understanding that the alliance we have around the world depends on our ability to protect our friends and not side with our enemies because you admire strong people, instead of caring about democracy. And that is what is at stake here," said Vice President Harris.
