The Latest IPhone Will Use Arm Chip Technology For AI
JAKARTA - Apple is expected to announce its newest iPhone equipped with the A18 chip at an event held Monday 9 September. This chip was developed using Arm's latest V9 design technology, which is a subsidiary of SoftBank.
Apple's fall launch event is scheduled to take place on September 9, 2024 at Apple headquarters in Cupertino, California. At this event, Apple is expected to introduce a series of new products, including updates to iPhones and other devices and apps.
Apple signed an agreement with Arm in September last year, which would extend their cooperation until "passing 2040." This is a significant impetus for Arm's chip technology amid increasingly fierce competition in the tech industry.
In July, Arm revealed that their V9 chip design had contributed 50% of global smartphone revenue. Arm is the intellectual property rights holder behind the computing architecture used in most smartphones around the world. The technology is licensed to large companies, including Apple.

Apple uses Arm technology as a basis for designing its own custom chips for its various products, such as the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. The relationship between these two companies has been going on for a long time, starting in 1990 when Apple became one of the early partners to set up Arm. This partnership comes before Apple launched its "Newton" handheld computer in 1993, which uses Arm-based chips.
Although Newton was unsuccessful in the market, Arm is growing rapidly and is becoming the dominant player in the chip industry for mobile phones, mainly due to the low power consumption of their chips, which helps extend battery life.
With the latest iPhone expected to use Arm's latest technology, Apple is further strengthening its position in the global smartphone market. Increasing AI capabilities in these devices will be one of the main attractions for consumers, especially in the midst of increasingly fierce competition in the technology sector.
