The Indonesian KPU Has Not Received A KPK Letter Regarding Candidates For Regional Heads With Suspect Status
The General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia has not received an information letter from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) regarding regional head candidates who are suspects in suspected corruption cases.
KPU commissioner, Idham Kholik said that his party would wait for an information letter regarding this matter from the KPK as one of the institutions that hold the authority to take action against corruption.
"As of this morning, we have not received the letter, of course we are waiting for the letter," said Idham Kholik to reporters, Saturday, September 7.
However, if the information letter from the KPK has been received, the KPU will not convey it to the public. This is because the KPU does not have the authority to do this.
However, what can only be done is to convey information from the KPK to the regional KPU.
"Yes, we will inform the regional KPU that the suspect is a suspect," said Idham.

On the other hand, Idham said that regional head candidates with the status of suspects could still participate in the 2024 Pilkada contestation. Provided, there is no inkrah decision regarding the determination of the suspect.
"A candidate or candidate pair can be declared unconditional if the person concerned after registering at the KPU has the status of obtaining an inkrah legal decision. So, we will immediately declare that the person concerned is TMS (not eligible), if the suspect is still not yet getting an inkrah decision, then the person concerned can still process it," said Idham.
