UGM And Sido A Collaboration On Herbal And Superfood Studies
JAKARTA - The main Director of PT Industri Jamu and Pharmacy Sido Muncul Tbk, Irwan Hidayat, visited the UGM campus, Tuesday, September 3. The visit was greeted directly by the Chancellor of Gadjah Mada University, Prof. dr. Ova Emilia, M.Med.Ed., Sp.OG(K), Ph.D.
This visit agenda includes discussions on collaboration in herbal studies and the development of superfood products or types of foods that contain high nutrients.
Ova welcomed the offer of cooperation made by Sido Muncul against the potential for cooperation between UGM and Sido to appear in the development of herbal medicines.
"We open up opportunities for collaboration because UGM has a large number of centers for herbal studies and related research," said Prof. Ova. Opened the discussion.
Irwan Hidayat said Sido Muncul has an interest in collaborating in developing herbal products with UGM, especially for temulawak, ginger, and turmeric plants.
"The cumulator, ginger, and turmeric can be developed into high-quality superfoods. The key to marketing is good products, so we can start from upstream, from the seeds, so that other countries can buy from us," said Irwan Hidayat.
On that occasion, Irwan emphasized that Sido Muncul also offered full support in research related to temulawak and other herbal products, even his party is ready to donate all the company's resources for related research.
"Everything we have will be donated later to support research at UGM," he said.
The visit of the President Director of Sido Muncul to UGM this time marks the beginning of a strategic partnership between Sido Muncul and UGM in the development and research of herbal products. This collaboration is expected to encourage innovation in herbal processing and increase the competitiveness of Indonesian products in the global market.
With the support from Sido Muncul and UGM's commitment to research, it is hoped that superior products will be born that will not only benefit public health, but also bring economic benefits to the country.
