Denpasar Firefighters Fired At TPA Suwung
DENPASAR - Fire and Rescue Service officers from Denpasar City, Bali, managed to extinguish the fire that hit the Sarbagita Suwung Regional Final Disposal Site (TPA), Denpasar City.
"From the intensive extinguishing efforts, the fire was successfully extinguished at 17.00 WITA," said Denpasar City Fire and Rescue Service Head I Made Tirana, Friday, September 6.
Denpasar Firefighters (Damkar) moved quickly assisted by the Badung Regency Fire Department and the Rapid Response Team (TRC) of the Denpasar City and Bali Province Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).
Eight fire engines were deployed to control the fire which reportedly appeared at 13:26 WITA.
According to Tirana, this fire was triggered by prolonged dry weather due to the dry season. The hotspots were found in the bushes west of the TPA Suwung pool, with an area of about 3,000 square meters burned.

The blackout operation involved six Denpasar Firefighters, two from Badung Regency, as well as water tanker support from the Denpasar City BPBD TRC and Bali Province, including tank car assistance from the Denpasar Cleaning Environment Agency (DLHK).
"After the intensive extinguishing effort, the fire was successfully extinguished at around 17.00 WITA. However, one unit of the Denpasar Damkar was still on standby to anticipate the possible emergence of new hotspots," said Tirana.
Previously, the Suwung TPA had also experienced a fire on May 8, 2024. Even on October 12, 2023, the Suwung TPA experienced a severe fire, which at that time the extinguishing process took up to a month.
