Ministry Of Education And Culture: New KIP Tuition Scheme Only For New Recipients

JAKARTA - Head of the Education Financing Service Center (Puslapdik) of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Abdul Kahar, said that the new Free Education Indonesia Smart Card (KIP) scheme is only intended for new recipients of this program.

"The new scheme of KIP College or KIP Free College is only intended for new recipients who will enter this year and does not apply retroactively. So it does not apply to previous recipients, be it living expenses or education costs, "said Abdul Kahar in Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Monday, March 29.

Previously, Mendikbud Nadiem Anwar Makarim launched a new KIP Free College scheme. If all this time KIP tuition is only Rp. 2.4 million per semester and living costs Rp. 700,000 per month, then with this new scheme it has increased significantly.

The tuition fee, which previously had a tuition fee of IDR 2.4 million per semester, has undergone a change, namely the study program accredited A is a maximum of IDR 12 million per semester, study program accredited B is a maximum of IDR 4 million per semester, and study program accredited C is a maximum of IDR 2.4 million per semester.

Likewise, the cost of living is adjusted to the regional price index. Living costs are divided into five clusters, namely cluster one Rp. 800,000 per semester, cluster area two Rp. 950,000 per semester, cluster three area Rp1,100,000 per semester, cluster area four Rp1,250,000 per semester, and cluster area five Rp.1,400,000 per semester. semester

"The cost of education is transferred directly to the respective university and not to the student. This is to ensure the continuity of the recipient's study. For new living expenses, it is transferred to the account number of each student," explained Kahar.

He asked prospective students to remain enthusiastic about reaching their dream of continuing their education. KIP Merdeka College applies not only to students who are accepted at State Universities (PTN) but also in Private Universities (PTS). Kemendikbud allocates a quota of 60 percent for PTN and 40 percent for PTS.

"Don't be discouraged, if you don't pass the SNMPTN there is still the SBMPTN and there is still an independent selection. If you don't graduate from PTN, you can still go to PTS, ”added Kahar.
