Jokowi Opens ISF 2024 For Collaboration In Facing Climate Change

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) opened the 2024 Indonesia International Sustainability Forum (ISF) in Jakarta, Thursday, as a place to exchange ideas and knowledge, as well as providing the best global solutions and practices in dealing with climate change.

"I hope this ISF forum can be a place to meet knowledge, places to meet experiences, places to meet resources that can be shared capital in collaborating in facing existing climate challenges," said President Jokowi in his speech at the JCC, Senayan Jakarta, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, September 5.

He said Indonesia is very open to partnering with anyone to maximize the potential for a greener world, to provide access to fair green energy, as well as to encourage inclusive and sustainable economic growth.

ISF 2024 has the theme "Towards Sustainable and Inclusive Growth". The forum which was attended by more than 8,000 participants to highlight the five pillars of discussion, namely the green economy, energy transition, conservation of nature and biodiversity (biodiversity and nature conservation), sustainable living style, and marine economy (blue economy).

A number of world leaders who attended as keynote speakers at this forum included Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut B Pandjaitan, Singapore's National Security Coordinating Minister Teo Chee Hean, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia Fadillah Yusof, Chinese Minister of Industry and Information Technology Jin Zuanglong, and Minister of the Environment of the Democratic Republic of Congo Eve Bazauba.

Also attending the 2024 ISF Special Envoy for the Secretary General of the United Nations for Maritime Affairs Peter Thomson and Special Advisor for Climate Action from the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs Kevin Magron.
