BMKG: Homestyle Adjustments Need To Anticipate Megathrust

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) conveyed the importance of adjusting the style of the house to anticipate the impact of the earthquake.

"BMKG always tries to educate, yes, how to deal with this -megathrust-, not only to the community, but also to stakeholders, decision makers, so that the lifestyle, lifestyle, style of building Indonesian houses in the future can also adjust," said Deputy for BMKG Weather Modification Tri Handoko Seto as reported by ANTARA, Monday, September 2.

He emphasized that the public does not need to panic over information related to the earthquake, because the BMKG has continuously provided education and information regarding mitigation that the community needs to do to deal with the possibility of the disaster.

"First, people don't panic, just if they panic, they are wrong. People must be well literate, then follow directions from official BMKG sources. People must know more, how do we deal with such potentials," he said.

He emphasized that Indonesia has megathrust earthquake points that need to be watched out for and have the potential to cause disasters.

"A lot of lines that are conveyed, all of them have potential. So, we should all Indonesian people who are already on those routes must be prepared, including the media must also convey it correctly, don't scare the public too much," he explained.
