Ratri/Hikmat Donate First Gold At The 2024 Paralympics
JAKARTA Leani Ratri Oktila/Hikmat Ramdani managed to present the first gold medal for Indonesia from badminton at the Paris 2024 Paralympics.
The pair climbed the highest podium after successfully winning the SL3-SU5 mixed doubles at the Porte de la Chapelle Arena, Paris, Monday, September 2, 2024, Indonesian Western Time (WIB) afternoon.
At the top party, Ratri/Hikmat defeated their compatriots, Fredy Setiawan/Khalimatus Sadiyah, in the two straight games 21-16 and 21-15.
The defeat in the final made Fredy / Khalimatus have to settle for a silver medal. This is the fourth silver that was secured by the Indonesian contingent.

In total, so far Indonesia has secured seven medals at the Paris 2024 Paralympics. The details are one gold, four silver and two bronze medals.
Apart from mixed doubles, badminton also contributed one silver from the women's singles Qonitah Ikhtiar Syakoroh who played in the SL3 classification. In the final match, Qonita lost against the Chinese women's singles, Xiao Zuxian.
Prior to that, another silver medal was also obtained by an athlete from Boccia, Muhammad Bintang Satria Herlangga, from the men's BC2 individual number.
Bintang Satria managed to bring home a silver medal after the final round which took place at the Paris South Arena, he lost 1-6 against Thai athlete Worawut Saengmpa.
The achievement is the third medal from the boccia sport. The previous two bronze medals were previously secured by Gischa Zayana and Muhammad Afrizal Syafa.
Another silver medal was won by the mainstay runner Saptoyogo Purnomo in the men's 100 meters classification T37. This achievement was the first medal that Indonesia got at the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
