Investigate The Fire At Soetta Airport, The Police Dig Into Information From Two Witnesses

BANTEN - Authorities conducted a search of the fire that occurred at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta airport. Two witnesses who were at the scene have been questioned.

The Head of Operations for the Soetta Airport Police, Kompol Alvin in Tangerang, said on Sunday that until now the investigation and examination stages of the witnesses were still being carried out.

"For the time being, we are examining two witnesses, now they are still in process," he said as quoted by VOI from ANTARA, Sunday, September 1.

He said, to reveal the fire, the police conducted an investigation using two methods. The first stage is to collect a number of statements and examine witnesses who know the origin of the fire incident.

Then, the second stage is by conducting investigations and checking at the crime scene (TKP) to find the cause of the fire.

"For the cause (of the fire, ed) we are still investigating by officers and until now it is still ongoing," he said.

He revealed that until now it was not known for certain the cause of the fire. However, the team of investigators from the Airport Police together with Angkasa Pura II as the terminal manager has carried out the investigation of the crime scene and his party is waiting for the results of the examination.

He also added that it is now certain that the fire was safe, because officers from airport authorities such as Airport Rescue & Fire Fighting (ARFF) could quickly control the fire that burned tenant food & beverage.

"The investigation is still ongoing, because at the time of the incident there were witnesses who saw that they were still carrying out operations in the tenan," he said.

Meanwhile, Soetta Airport Executive General Manager, Dwi Ananda Wicaksana ensured that after the fire incident, service and flight schedule at Soetta Airport, it was still running normally.

"There is no impact on operations at all. In fact, we have appealed to passengers to distribute masks, so they can still carry out the boarding process normally," said Dwi.

In handling this fire, his party deployed as many as 20 internal firefighters from Soetta Airport, so that the fire could be handled quickly by firefighters.

For the chronology of the fire incident that hit one of the tenant food & beverage in the departure area of Terminal 3 Soetta Airport, it occurred at around 04.24 WIB.

Then, after it was discovered that the hotspots that caused the fire, it was then reported that the Airport Rescue & Fire Fighting (ARFF) personnel at around 04.30 WIB could handle it.

"For this incident, it is certain that there were no casualties, either injured or dead. And for the tenants themselves, we ensure that they can operate again at this time," he explained.
