Denies There Is A Form Donation For The Form Of A New Party, Anies: Be Careful, Not From Me!

JAKARTA - Since Anies Baswedan announced plans to establish a new political party (political party), registration forms have been circulating to requests for donations for the formation of the party. However, Anies denied he and his team were the ones who circulated the form.

"Some time in circulation there is a form, there is a QR code, there is an account number, someone asks to donate, someone asks to register, it is related to parties and mass organizations. I want to emphasize that it is not from me and we have never circulated anything," said Anies in a video caption, quoted on Sunday, September 1.

Anies advised the public not to respond to the circular of the form. The former governor of DKI Jakarta asked all parties to wait for further information regarding the certainty of the party formation he wanted to establish.

"I understand that enthusiasm is enormous, but please be careful, please be critical, and until today, Saturday 31 August 2024, there is no form yet, no circular whatsoever," he continued.

The opportunity for Anies to advance was carried by the PDI-P (PDIP) in the Jakarta gubernatorial election after being left behind by NasDem, PKB, and PKS, did not bear fruit. PDIP nominated its cadre, Pramono Anung-Rano Karno, who registered with the DKI Jakarta KPU on Wednesday, August 28.

Later, PDIP offered Anies to run for the West Java (Jabar) gubernatorial election, after canceling his event in Jakarta. The West Java PDIP Regional Leadership Council (DPD) revealed that Anies would be paired by Ono Surono.

There were also rumors that Anies had left for Bandung, West Java to register with PDIP. Before the registration period closed on August 29 evening, Anies announced that he would cancel running for the West Java Pilkada. Until the closing of the registration period, Anies was apparently still in Jakarta.

After failing to advance in the Jakarta Pilkada because he did not get a nomination ticket, Anies opened up the opportunity to establish a new political party. This is based on the proposal of a number of parties to him.

However, Anies will still consider whether to form a political party or limited community organization (ormas).

"If to gather all the spirit of change that is now getting bigger and bigger, and it becomes a strength, it is necessary to become a movement, then to build a mass organization or build a new party, maybe that's the way we will take. We will see together in the future," said Anies on Friday, September 30.

Anies asked all parties to wait for a decision regarding the option of establishing a party whose role is to become a forum for healthier democracy drivers, as well as politics that prioritizes ideas.

"Hopefully we won't be able to realize concrete steps to accommodate the movement, which is now getting bigger day by day," said Anies.

On that occasion, Anies also admitted that he accepted the proposal to join as a cadre of political parties. However, he was hesitant about the current political conditions. According to Amies, if he joined a political party, his political steps could be held hostage by the parties in power.

"Look, if you enter the party, the question is which party is now not held hostage by power? Let alone enter, nominating is threatened. It's a bit risky for those who propose it. So, this is a reality," he said.
