JAKARTA - A couple with the initials DKZ (23-year-old woman) and RR (28-year-old man) were arrested by members of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kalideres Police for the alleged abortion case at Permata Taman Palem Housing RT 03/03, Pegadungan, Kalideres District, West Jakarta.
The couple were desperate to have an abortion against the 8-month-old baby due to an illicit relationship. DKZ is known to have swallowed dozens of abortion pills.
Kalideres Police Chief Kompol Abdul Jana said the suspect with the initials RR is known to have a wife. However, RR again had an illicit relationship with his girlfriend with the initials DKZ.
"RR and DKZ have been dating since March 2023. In fact, RR is known to already have a wife. However, RR is still in a relationship with DKZ and lives together in a boarding house," said Commissioner Abdul Jana when confirmed, Friday, August 30.
DKZ's pregnancy from the results of illicit relations is expected to occur since January 2024. After learning about the pregnancy, the two suspects agreed to abort the fetus because they did not want the pregnancy.
For several months, they looked for ways to abort the pregnancy. Finally, at the age of 8 months of pregnancy, the suspect DKZ managed to obtain an abortion drug purchased online at a price of Rp. 1 million.

Meanwhile, from DKZ's confession, since August 13, 2024, he has taken the abortion drug. After taking 18 pills of abortion, DKZ felt a great contraction and immediately entered the bathroom in their boarding house.
RR outside the bathroom also supervises and helps. After a while, the fetus came out of the womb dead.
"The suspect RR helped record the process and prepared tools such as scissors to cut the umbilical cord and cloth to wrap the baby's body," he said.
Furthermore, the fetus of the abortion victim was buried by the two suspects at TPU Carang Pulang, Pagedangan, Tangerang Regency.
As a result of their actions, the two suspects were charged with multiple articles. The suspect was charged with Article 77A Jo 45A of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection, with the threat of a sentence of 10 years in prison, as well as articles related to abortion in the Health Law and the Criminal Code.
"The suspect faces an additional 5 years in prison for his actions," he said.
