Gegara Fan Angin, Two Residents' Houses In Pulogadung Burnt

JAKARTA - Two houses in the Pulogadung area, East Jakarta, were burned down by fire after an electrical short from a fan from one of the residents' houses. The fire incident occurred in a residential area on Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan, RT 03/02, Pulogadung District, East Jakarta on Thursday, August 29, afternoon.

The fire was first discovered by Wati (51), one of the owners of the house that caught fire. Wati smelled the smell from Sukron's house. When checked, it turned out that there was already a flames in the bedroom empty.

"It is suspected that the fire was caused by a fan that was plugging in and hot," said Head of the Operational Section (Kasi) of the East Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-dept. Abdul Wahid to reporters, Thursday, August 29.

Abdul Wahid said the fire that occurred at around 09.00 WIB was suspected to have been caused by an electrical short in the fan.

The East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. officers also deployed 11 fire engines with 45 personnel to extinguish the fire that burned the two 150 square meters of the house.

The location of the fire in a narrow alley makes it difficult for officers, especially since the access road for many vehicles is parked carelessly. There were no casualties in the incident, but the loss was estimated at Rp 200 million.

"There are no fatalities. As many as 6 people were affected by the fire," he said.
