Google Maps Launches Updated Location Pin Shapes And Colors

JAKARTA After redesigning the lower bar on Android and iOS, Google Maps updated the color and shape of the pin on its map. This redesign began to launch on Tuesday, August 27. Some users may not have realized this change. Reporting from 9to5google, the shape of the pin similar to the Maps logo is no longer used as a place marker. Instead, Maps uses shorter and rounder pins. This pin uses a white background, while on its inside there is a circle icon showing the place icon. Still the same as before, this icon has a different color to distinguish the place to go. Although the category icon does not experience any change, Google replaces some color on its pin icon, one of the examples is a museum. Previously, the museum icon was decorated with a green background, but now its color is purple. In addition, Google also smoothed the colors in several pin categories. Like icons for zoos, for example, the pin color for this category becomes smoother and dimmer compared to the previous one. This pin still uses green color.

Thanks to this change, Maps' appearance is not very prominent because the pin category of places has been reduced. However, on the bright side, users don't need to enlarge the screen too much because the display of the map is clearer overall. The changes in the icons and colors in this pin category are launched on the server side on iOS, Android, and the Maps website. If users want to see this update, they don't need to update the app because the latest look is already available.
