French Teenagers Disappear After Falling On Mount Batukaru Bali

The Bali joint SAR team is looking for a teenager from a foreign national (WNA) from France named Stein (15) who fell while climbing Mount Batukaru, in Tabanan Regency, Bali.

"Until now, the joint SAR team has not found any signs of the victim's whereabouts. Officers on standby at the office continue to communicate and monitor the team's movements during the search effort, but currently the team has returned to Jatiluwih Temple, due to unfavorable conditions, with wind speeds ranging from 15-25 knots," said Head of Denpasar Search and Rescue Office, I Nyoman Sidakarya, Tuesday, August 27.

The unfortunate incident began when the victim and three of his relatives moved from Pura Malen Pujungan Buleleng on Sunday (25/8) morning, around 10:00 WITA.

That night, at 20.00 WITA, it was discovered that two foreigners had fallen, one of which was the victim.

"One of them managed to save himself by walking along the river flow until he arrived in Blimbing Village, Tabanan. When they fell, they were separated and one person managed to survive, we just received the report yesterday afternoon, around 18.20 WITA," he added.

The estimated position of the victim is at an altitude of 1600 meters above sea level. From the report received, the victim temporarily lived in a villa around the Tabanan area.

"According to the testimony of the witness who survived that he had communicated but a few moments later the victim's voice was not heard," he explained.

A total of seven personnel moved from the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office to Mount Batukaru. Search efforts were also assisted by SAR elements from BPBD Tabanan, SAR Dog, Bhuana Bali Rescue, pecalang Pura Batukaru, and local guides.

"The joint SAR team started climbing from Sari Buana at around 02.46 WITA, alternated with SAR elements that had preceded last night," he said.
