NasDem Proposes Amendment To Parliamentary Threshold: DPR 7 Percent, Provincial DPRD 5 Percent, Regency/City DPRD 3 Percent
JAKARTA - The NasDem Party issued a recommendation from the results of Congress III. One of them, NasDem proposed a tiered change in the parliamentary threshold.Member of the Dec Congress III NasDem Martin Manurung explained that NasDem's proposal to the parliamentary threshold of the DPR RI rose to 7 percent. In the current Election Law, the DPR's passing threshold is 4 percent.Then, NasDem proposed that the acquisition of provincial and district/city DPRD seats in the future also use a threshold of 5 percent for provincial DPRDs and 3 percent for district/city DPRDs."This policy will accommodate aspects of political inclusiveness with political and government stability," Martin said at a press conference at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Tuesday, August 27.Martin explained that this change in threshold was proposed by NasDem because seeing the multiparty system as it is today makes it difficult for the national consensus to develop.According to him, the political situation is now becoming too boisterous. The political process that occurred also took a long time to reach the balance and consolidation of democracy."Consistency is needed for the simplification of political parties through the parliamentary threshold. The NasDem Party's attitude towards the multiparty system is to lead to the implementation of the selected party system naturally by increasing the parliamentary threshold in stages," explained Martin.The NasDem III Congress was held for 3 days, from Sunday to Tuesday, August 25-27, 2024. The congress was attended by thousands of NasDem Party administrators and cadres from the central to the city district, as well as invitees.The opening night of the NasDem Party's III Congress on Sunday, August 25, carried the theme "Sinergi Builds the Nation". The opening of the NasDem Congress III was attended by President Joko Widodo.In Congress III, Surya Paloh was re-elected as Chairman of the NasDem Party for the period 2024-2029. Thus, Surya served as Chairman of NasDem for the third period for up to five years.
Surya first served as Chairman of NasDem at the first Congress in 2013, then he resumed his position as Chairman of the second Congress in 2019.
