Athletics Aim For Bronze At The 2024 Paralympics
JAKARTA The Indonesian athletic team carries the target of getting a bronze medal from the 2024 Paris Paralympics which will open in the middle of this week.
The Paris 2024 Paralympics will take place from August 28 to September 8, 2024. Total athletics have five representatives who will appear there.
The athletics coach, Purwo Adi Sanyoto, said that the competition for medals at the Paralympics was so tight that the target raised was quite realistic.
"The realistic target for this Paralympics is one bronze medal, but hopefully it can jump up," said Purwo as in a statement received from the Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPC).
Of the five names that left for France, Saptoyogo Purnomo athlete will return to Indonesia's mainstay in the 100 meters and 200 meters of the men's classification T37.

Saptoyogo came to Paris with a bronze medal capital number 100 meters T37 when he appeared at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, which was postponed for a year due to the corona pandemic.
At that time, Saptoyogo finished with a time of 11.31 seconds. He was behind the United States representative, Nick Mayhugh (10.95 seconds), and Russian representative Andrey Vdovin (11.18 seconds).
"Before leaving here, I tested 100 meters, it was close to a long time record. Hopefully, during the race, a record break or match the previous one," said Saptoyogo.
Apart from Saptoyogo, the other four names who went there were Karisma Evi Tiarani (100 meters T42 women), Ni Made Arianti Putri (100 meters T12 women), Partin (100 meters T42 men), and Fauzi Purwo Laksono (Men's F57 Lembing Camp).
Saptoyogo and his friends are currently sharing training places with athletes from other countries at Ile des Vannes Sports Complex, Saint-Denis.
The new athletic sports will be competed on Friday, August 30, 2024. The number matches that will be followed by the Indonesian athletic team will take place at the Stade de France.
"Now we haven't practiced at the main stadium, but we have one day to train at the main stadium on August 29, 2024. It would be very profitable if we could train there," said Saptoyogo.
This year, Indonesia sent as many as 35 athletes spread across 10 sports (sports). This number increased compared to the Tokyo edition which was attended by 23 of the seven sports.
